The Wolfberg Crack and arch hike is roughly 14 km, taking 7 hours including a lunch break. The Wolfberg Arch elevation is 1609m . The journey is into the crack at the giant orange face of the Wolfberg Mountain and ascends to the plateau on top.
This famous Cederberg hike took us through the narrow crack where the inner chambers, ledges and orange walls are awesome to behold. The walk from the top of the cracks to the Arch is 5 km in a vast alien-looking landscape filled with interesting sandstone rock formations. We descended through the wide crack and were lucky enough to spot a little red tailed rock rabbit/hare on the route. Epic views ! Lovely experience.
If you are a little claustrophobic the wide crack is a good option for both ascending and descending but you will miss out on some spectacular rock passages and cleavage(for want of a better term).
A 'must do" day hike.
