https://ko-fi.com/shazarad In search of a basic, no frills 1911, I went to a well known manufacturer of inexpensive 1911s, Rock Island Armory, and decided to put it through its paces.
1000 rounds later and I have not had a single issue with it! Which, according to internet lore, should be impossible. Figured I'd give this pistol a little review, and show some wear patterns.
Overall, I am very pleased with this pistol and do not find the vast majority of criticism against cheap/inexpensive 1911s like this one warranted. As I have always said, maintain and operate your weapon properly, and it will work for you (barring of course obvious manufacturing defects but in my experience its more often on the end user than the manufacturer).
At some point I may just do a maintenance video on 1911s and how I care for, maintain, and operate my 1911s and what has and hasn't worked for me.
EDIT: I meant parkerized finish, not phosphate!
