Flipside: I KNOW IT’S HARD BUT IT’S FAIR – Here is another really great unknown ballad from my music collection. I am dedicating MIRACLE OF LOVE to my wife as we are celebrating our 31st Wedding Anniversary today, April 10, 2015.

The "5" Royales began as the Royal Sons in 1942, a locally popular gospel quintet based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. They were one of the early "pioneers" of R & B. The "5" Royales' vocal sound and their incorporation of gospel, Doowop, Jump Blues and rock & roll in their recordings was a precursor to what was to become Soul music and would influence artists yet to come.

The original members included brothers Lowman, Curtis and Clarence Pauling, along with William Samuels and Otto Jefferies. They recorded a lot of great songs on a number of different record labels: Apollo 1951-1955, ABC, Home of the Blues, Todd and Vee-Jay but most of their releases were for King Records. Group member Lowman Pauling wrote most of their material, sang bass and was one of the most innovative guitarists who first intentionally used guitar feedback on a record. Eric Clapton named Pauling as "an influence."

MIRACLE OF LOVE was released again in 1960 on (King # 5453).
