Lake Isabelle and Long Lake - Brainard Lake Recreation Area, Colorado - Amazing hike with waterfalls

Описание: A blisteringly cold and windy morning diverted some plans, but plan B at Brainard Lake is still a pretty amazing plan. Hiked to Lake Isabelle and then beyond a bit to a waterfall on the Isabelle Glacier trail. Did not make it up all the way to the Glacier but had some amazing views of the lake and wildflowers of the area. This place is truly something special.

About Brainard Lake Recreation Area
Brainard Lake is a popular hiking spot in the Roosevelt National Forest and the Indian Peak Wilderness. Similar to Rocky Mountain National Park in many ways, there is a vast trail system that will take hikers to many destinations. This video focused on the Long Lake Trailhead to Isabelle Lake, but the same trail will branch off to Pawnee Peak and other landmarks at the Continental Divide.

This park is located near Ward, Co off of the Peak to Peak Highway (Colorado 72). There is a reservation system in place with a $14 entry fee (as of 2023). If you wish to get a good parking spot, you should reserve online well in advanced and arrive at the reserved time. Very limited parking. The people who work here are really great - they helped me find a missing item from the hike.
