[0:46] The dye colors
Dharma Acid dyes Silver Gray, True Black. Jacquard optical brightener
10 g of Silver Gray, 10 g True Black. Made 1% stock solutions
5 g of optical brightener 4 times. Dyeing yarn in batches of 400 g (1/3 of that yarn will be in the dye)
[4:12] Presoaking the yarn
[5:41] The dyebath
5 g brightener, 24 cups of water, 6 T white vinegar
[7:10] Dyeing with the optical brightener on part of the yarn
dyebath is warm but not boiling
add about half the yarn. heat for 30 min, but most dye has absorbed after 15.
[10:07] Removing the white on white yarn
[12:06] Closer look at our bare yarn dipped into white
[15:12] Dip dyeing into gray
24 cups of fresh tap water, 6 T white vinegar
200 mL of the 1% stock of silver gray (2 g dye total. I'll dye 2/3 of 400 g of yarn)

[24:27] Dip dyeing into black
Fresh dyebath 24 cups of water, 6 T white vinegar. 200 mL of black dye (2 g of dye for 1/3 of the 400 g of yarn)
