iPod (3rd Gen) Converted to Compact Flash

After discovering that my 3rd generation iPod died, I decided to repair it. It appeared that the board that converts the IDE interface to the compact flash short-circuited and that’s all that I replaced. The battery also appeared to be damaged, but I’m not sure if it is due to the circuit board or if it was the root cause of the problem. Either way, using the same battery seems to be OK since the iPod is alive once again. I highly recommend using a higher grade battery in case you run into a similar issue. I will be replacing that next.
