Wing loading is a term used to describe the amount of weight an aircraft's wings must support for each unit of wing area. It's calculated by dividing the total weight of the aircraft by the total wing area. Higher wing loading means that the wings must support more weight per square foot of wing area, making the aircraft more efficient in terms of cruise speed and stability, but less maneuverable and less capable of low-speed flight. On the other hand, lower wing loading results in less efficient flight characteristics but allows for greater maneuverability and a larger margin of safety during takeoff and landing. In general, larger and more heavily loaded aircraft have higher wing loadings, while smaller and lighter aircraft have lower wing loadings.
