Have you ever wanted to hear the original multi track stems for Toto's classic, Africa? Well, they haven't hit the internet, so here's the next best thing.
A 5.1 surround mix was released on SACD in 2003, and it seemed to receive lukewarm reception, mostly because of the way the vocals were mixed.
This 5.1 mix includes a few alterations and omissions from the original track like the keyboard part in the intro, a fuller chorus, and a harmony that can be heard during the later choruses only in the right channels.
0:00 - Left Surround (mono)
4:58 - Left (mono)
9:54 - Center (mono)
14:51 - Right (mono)
19:48 - Right Surround (mono)
24:47 - Left and Right (stereo)
29:43 - Left and Right surrounds (stereo)
34:40 - All channels + LFE
There's a lot you can hear here, and even if some of it isn't exactly the way is was in the final track, it'll allow you to hear things you may never have been able to fully notice or appreciate.
