Self Sharpening Blades Don't Exist

After seeing Phillips claim of "Self-Sharpening" blades that "Don't need oil like Wahl" I had to test this out. Here's how:
1) Take a new blade and ware it down
2) Let the trimmer run for a while so it can "self-sharpen"
3) Look at and test the blade after
I can't see any possible way that a trimmer blade could become sharper with use. If someone from Phillips's engineering team could let me know how this works, I would appreciate that.

If you are looking for a trimmer that will stay sharp for longer, look for a ceramic blade. They are 6x harder than stainless steel and are excellent at holding an edge. The Brio Beardscape has an adjustable ceramic blade:
