Wired For Hope

The Lord straight up says in His Word, “I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

But life happens, plans get delayed, dreams seem to not come true, and disappointment can feel crushing!

This is when Proverbs 13:12 feels SOOO TRUE, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.”

Could it be that our hopes are simply DELAYED rather than denied? Could it be God is growing our character and capacity in the prolonged waiting season? Romans 5:3-4 tells us, “… we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” The long waiting, the trials, the setbacks, the disappointments are designed to strengthen our hope, not crush it. God is growing so that He can bring our hopes and dreams to realization.

QUESTIONS TO ASK OURSELVES:
• Are our LONGINGS & PLANS in line with God’s?
Have we asked Him directly if our desires & dreams HIS DESIRES & DREAMS FOR US?
• AM I JUMPING THE GUN? I want to ~ start – do – have ~ before its proper time?
God will withholds certain things until their proper time
Ecclesiastes 3:1, “To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.”
• As we go through the stages of: Suffering – Perseverance – Character – Hope
Is there any place I AM NOT COOPERATING WITH GOD?
James 1:4, “Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

“The God of hope [will] fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13
