On July 9th, 2023, officers attempted to make contact with a driver after observing suspicious behavior. As officers issued commands to open the door and comply, the driver refused and attempted to flee the scene, striking police vehicles in the process.

Bodycam footage shows officers repeatedly ordering the driver to stop while she remained inside the vehicle. Officers later reported observing behavior consistent with active drug use, increasing concern for public and officer safety. The situation escalated as the driver continued to resist commands, leading officers to deploy a K9 unit in order to safely take her into custody.

A subsequent investigation resulted in multiple charges, including failure to respond to an officer’s signal to stop, reckless endangerment, drug-related offenses, and interference with a peace officer.

Court records indicate the driver later pleaded guilty to multiple felony charges.
She was sentenced to a prison term of up to five years, which was suspended, and ordered to serve time in county jail.

This incident highlights how unpredictable situations involving impaired drivers can become, and how quickly poor decisions can lead to serious legal consequences.
