This section showcases both the natural beauty of the Bristol Channel and Wales' industrial heritage. It starts at the restored Porthcawl harbour with stunning views of Southerdown Cliffs. Through the Victorian town of Porthcawl and round the corner to trendy Rest Bay which catches the west wind and is therefore popular with surfers. Then along a newly constructed broad walk, past the Royal Porthcawl Golf Club and ancient Sker House and on to Pink Bay where my mother played as a little girl before WW2. A five mile sweep of sandy bay takes you right up to the breakwater at Port Talbot docks - beautiful sea views over to Swansea on your left, the sounds and smells of heavy industry on your right.
I am walking with my two old school chums, Mike snd David, who have not bothered to change at all in the last 50 years
