In March 2018, a Carpool Karaoke-style film featuring 50 mums and their children with Down syndrome singing along to "A Thousand Years" went viral, amassing over 500 million views.
The idea came from Coventry mum Becky, who aimed to challenge negative perceptions using the hashtag #wouldntchangeathing. Although she easily recruited 49 other mums, Becky needed help with editing, which Jamie, dad to Rosie, provided.
Jamie wanted to spread awareness that that having a child with Down syndrome isn’t a burden. The video’s success led to the formation of a charity, which promotes inclusion and offers positive stories to families, including a book for new parents.
Becky reflected, “We never, ever imagined it would pick up such momentum..”
