Everyone who's been to Cream City Music has seen our giant blue Telecaster out front. It's almost become a landmark for people and after someone bought a guitar from us, they'd go outside and take a pic with the Tele.
Well, years have gone by and Wisconsin winters have taken a toll on the old girl. She was in rough shape.
The guys that run the shop knew they had to preserve their beloved mascot so they reached out to a fellow guitar player named Mike Cudahy that knows how to refurb things, had a shop to do so and agreed to the project. At about the same time, something unusual happened. A ten foot Les Paul from the Waukesha Les Paul Foundation came our way - we now had giant models of the first two real solid body guitars. The choice was clear. Restore them as a 1950s Les Paul Goldtop and a Fender Blackguard Telecaster.
As luck would have it, two guys with the store were willing to donate their first year Fender Nocaster and '52 Gibson Goldtop to Discovery World/Les Paul House Of Sound to create a partnership between Cream City Music and Discovery World that spans Milwaukee.
Right now, Mike is close to completing restoration of the two guitars and by late October we should be installing them both at the store in their rightful place.
