Scuba diving with thresher sharks, Malapascua, the Phillipines, March 2024.
Pelargic thresher sharks live in deeper waters and are rarely seen by divers outside the Philippines. Close to Malapascua Island they come up to the shallow waters of the underwater mountain Kimud shoal in the early morning hours, to visit a cleaning station. There they are cleansed of parasites by mostly moon wrasses.
