While on the one o'clock train out of Jim Thorpe, I also took video of some of the highlights of the trip on the train.
0:56 - Departing Jim Thorpe Station
5:10 - Former Carbon and Schuylkill Railroad enginehouse and CNJ turntable.
6:00 - Nesquehoning Junction, CNJ tower.
6:23 - Lehigh River bridge
7:19 - Glen Onoko. It is at this point that the engineer pulls the throttle to the roof for a "high speed" run through the gorge.
8:30 - Old Penn Haven Junction. This is the far point of the regular Lehigh Gorge trains and where 425 runs around the consist.
10:40 - Having run around the train, 425 departs Old Penn Haven Junction for Jim Thorpe.
12:54 - Glen Onoko, this time with a view of the CNJ bridge now used as part of the park's road system, as well as the abandoned tunnel, part of an earlier CNJ alignment through the gorge.
16:00 - Crossing the Lehigh River near Nesquehoning Junction, now looking down the river towards Jim Thorpe.
16:37 - Back in Jim Thorpe yard. On this side of the tracks is more LGSRy equipment. Where the two cabooses are, once sat a line of privately owned equipment, mostly cabooses, that have since been dispersed to new locations, many to the Allentown and Auburn Railroad in Kutztown, PA.
19:56 - Passing by the parking booth, 425 makes is approach to the Jim Thorpe station.
