Business disputes can be resolved in a number of ways. Going to court is the most expensive way to resolve a business dispute. Sometimes the only people who make money are the attorney's. Depending on how large the claim is, you have to consider, is it worth filing a lawsuit, incurring all of the expenses associated with bringing a lawsuit, when you may be able to just resolve it through conversation, or agreeing to settle for a lesser some of money that you might be owed. It's a cost benefit analysis. Sometimes people file a lawsuit out of emotion, but it may not be the smartest business decision. If the individual or company on the other side, for example, has no money, no assets, you could sue them. You could get a judgement and they declare bankruptcy, or they have nothing to go after anyway. From a business standpoint, that was not a wise decision. If you've been wronged by somebody or there's a breach of contract situation, you really want to look at the full picture. Is there a way that we can negotiate it? You could offer to try to mediate the dispute with that other party, and share in the cost of the mediator, and see if you can work out a settlement.
