Block Start Sled Sprint – Resisted Acceleration Training
The Block Start Sled Sprint is a resisted sprint training drill designed to develop explosive acceleration, starting strength and powerful sprint mechanics. Beginning from starting blocks, athletes drive forward while pulling a sled, forcing them to apply greater force into the ground during the first few steps of the sprint.
The added sled resistance helps reinforce strong body angles, aggressive knee drive and powerful arm action while improving the athlete’s ability to generate force during the acceleration phase.
This drill helps athletes develop:
• explosive starting power
• acceleration mechanics
• force production and leg drive
• sprint posture and body angles
