Hi Friends! Exams at any stage can be intimidating and really anxiety inducing! And not knowing what to expect can make those feelings even worse! In grad school there are a lot of things that are different from undergrad and graduate exams are one of them! In your PhD you have to take a series of exams that are often called many things, like oral exams, comps, quals, qualifying exams, and more! But they are all referring to the same examination process. Today, I am really unpacking details about the PhD Examination process and what it takes to advance to candidacy and become ABD! You can pass your qualifying exams and honestly, comprehensive exams don’t HAVE to be scary! ESPECIALLY when you know what to expect!
