See every moment in the lives of these 100% IRL live animals, made every minute of every day. The hermit crab terrarium (or crabitat as we like to call it 😉) is a mini ecosystem with live insects acting as the clean-up crew, an all-natural coconut substrate, and tons of toys, coconut shells, wooden bridges with hemp fibers, and all sorts of other fun things to keep our well-loved pets entertained.

The crab tank is home to 8 hermit crabs that we have received at various times and at various sizes. A batch of 4 we began with 5 years ago started off in shells the size of a quarter, but have grown into shells the size of a tangerine; A small "baby" one we picked up 3 years ago started off the size of a dime and is already in a shell as big as the original 4; and 3 jumbo crabs have gone from shells the size of a plum to shells the size of an adult human fist! At any given time, half of the crabs are molting, and half have just finished and are full of energy and ready for all sorts of crabby adventures.

The hermit crabs and isopods are mainly nocturnal animals, so our stream is equipped with in-tank, outdoor-rated security cameras with infrared LEDs that automatically switch to night-vision mode to ensure we never miss a minute of the action. The hermit crabs also love the added warmth the infrared light provides at night, giving them an added energy boost during their most active time!
