This fragment is the only surviving stanza of the otherwise lost epic poem Arimaspeia, composed by Aristeas of Proconnesos in the seventh century BCE. It survives due to its being cited in Dionysius Longinus’ “On the Sublime” as an example of how even distasteful things may be described with elegant language, in this case seasickness. Translated from Ancient Greek by Erilaz.
