A shocking scene has emerged from Nabarangpur district, where school children were forced to sit on the roadside and attend classes under the scorching sun after villagers locked the school gate.

The incident took place in Purla village under Jharigaon block. The protest erupted over alleged irregularities in the selection of a ‘Shishu Sebika’ (child caregiver) for the Shishu Vatika. Villagers claim that despite applications from seven local candidates, a woman residing nearly 4 kilometers away was selected for the post.

Angered by the decision, locals locked the school premises, leaving students with no option but to study on the dusty roadside. Though villagers arranged midday meals themselves, children had to endure extreme heat to continue their education.
