Old School Hip-Hop / Rap Track by artist L Jr. B
Created to immortalize the memory of the father.
Written in stages, during specific spiritual states.
Parts written on the ninth day, the fortieth day, and after a year.
Lyrics By: Lasha Bukhaidze
Hello Dad, it’s night here, by the fireplace I sit...
Calling you, it's off, so I guess I’ll write a bit...
I know the timing’s fine, where you are the light stays on,
I believe you’ve met the Lord, now you know the truth is won.
I missed your final conscious breath, Dad, I’m so sorry...
When I walked in, you were fading, a heartbreaking story.
Ambulance, the clinic, waiting rooms without an end...
The vision in my head: your empty bed, my dearest friend.
Then behind the car window, through the tears and the rain,
The doctor’s silent message, passing on the final pain.
I asked if you had suffered, though I think you already knew,
They said your heart just stopped, peace finally found you.
Yeah, getting home was hard, seeing faces full of dread,
Everything’s the same, but you’re not there in your bed.
Your portrait by the pillow, looking sad as if you cry,
Lonely slippers on the floor, dried persimmons sitting by.
Our photo’s by the headboard, I never noticed it before,
We look so happy there, a memory I will adore.
Forgive me for the mourning, for the weeping and the sighs,
The sun is coming up here... goodbye, no need for replies.
[ Chorus ]
We are only here for a moment! It’s the rule of Adam’s race,
Only God is immortal, and it’s better in His grace.
Life is full of many journeys, many ups and many downs,
With a few loyal hearts and a thousand hollow crowns.
Some think they can escape it, running from the stress and strife,
But to live and to love—that’s the interest of our life.
Only the soul is eternal, while the body fades away.
We leave this fleeting world behind... but life goes on today!
[ Verse 2 ]
How you doing, Dad? Forty days have passed us by,
I’m calmer now, I wanted to send another "hi."
Writing in the night again, the fire lights the room,
I know you traveled far to meet the kin beyond the tomb.
So much has built up in these forty days to tell,
First off, give my love to those you’ve met where you now dwell.
Every day gets heavier, I see your worth so clear,
Thanks for visiting my dreams and staying always near.
Mom is all alone now, she struggles but won't say,
Like a mourning dove she listens to your stories every day.
My brother can’t accept it, it’s a weight he cannot bear,
And I know what you’d ask—yes, the kids are doing fair.
The little one is naughty still, as sweet as she can be,
The eldest’s at a tough age, but she’ll be fine, you’ll see.
As for me, I’m spinning in the same old routine track,
With a hollow feeling now that I can't give you nothing back.
You know? I filmed you secretly, preparing for the day,
When I’d have to stand before your grave and walk away.
Lately I’ve been searching for your videos and your face,
See you soon, come bless my dreams with your spirit and your grace.
[ Chorus ]
[ Verse 3 ]
Am I dreaming? No, my Father reaches out his hand,
"How'd you get here?" I ask. He jokes, "They let me leave that land."
He smiles and he looks at me, his warmth begins to roll,
"So you were there those days?" — "I was home, heart and soul!"
Then he put his hand upon my shoulder, walking through the moon,
I didn't know the place, but felt the homeland's ancient tune.
We shared a lot of stories, swapped our thoughts and our fears,
Laughed a little, cried a bit, and emptied out the tears.
Suddenly the scene shifted, to the wooden house back home,
Flipping through the photos, through his youth we started to roam.
He stopped me at a picture, standing in his uniform,
"My mother died back then," he whispered, In a sad tone
Then the light grew blinding, swallowing the world we knew,
Father wrapped his arms around me, for a final "I love you."
A strange feeling took me over, my mind couldn't comprehend,
The darkness fell, the silence came... and time reached its end.
[ Chorus ]
