A police officer runs toward the scene of an "active shooter situation" at Temple Israel while school buses are evacuated on March 12, 2026 in West Bloomfield, Michigan.
The suspect who drove a vehicle into Temple Israel is dead, Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said. The individual was shot at by security that engaged with them as the incident unfolded, he told media members at the scene.
The only other injury was a security guard struck by the vehicle and knocked unconscious, the sheriff said. The guard is expected to recover.
