Gonzalo Carrera on piano featuring special guest rising British soprano Charlotte Akenhead, this was a very enjoyable fantastic session as with all my previous guests.
I met Charlotte through the freedom band "Jam for Freedom" leaded by Cambel McLaughlin, and what a great versatile singer she is, able to do from classical to jazz, rock etc. Dispite that Charlotte was a bit late to the session for reasons out of her control, because of train delays, when she started singing we were blown away by her feel, emotion and we just had an amazing chemistry, the prelude originally written by Bach, is trickier than we think as it sounds repetitive but with a lot of modulations and accidentals and it does require lot of concentration specially when you are doing the Gounod version with an opera singer, wonderful amazing day.
Charlotte is a fantastic British soprano known for her luminous tone, expressive warmth, and ability to bring classical music to life with heartfelt sincerity. Trained at the Conservatório Vocare in Porto (Portugal) neighbour town of my hometown Vigo (Spain), she has performed around U.K. in concert halls, churches, and intimate recital settings.
About Ave Maria:
A setting of the latin prayer Ave Maria, originally published in 1853, the piece consists of a melody by the French romantic composer Charles Gounod that he superimposed over and only very slightly changed versions of Bach prelude number 1 in C Major BWV 846, “Ave Maria“ (Hail Mary) is a catholic prayer to be blessed Virgin Mary asking for her intercession on behalf of sinners.
Recorded Live at Blue Room Studios London, 16th December 2025, produced and engineered by Itay Kashti.
