After a quarter of a century, a strange twist of destiny has brought a man-eating back! But this time it is on celluloid. Sandip Ray and his film unit have set base at Kumar Shaheb's Gaj Laxmi Palace to film Satyajit Ray's Royal Bengal Rahasya.

Ever since we have seen the movie Royal Bengal Rahashya (রয়াল বেঙ্গল রহস্য), we wished that we could live in a house right in front of the forest, wouldn't it be great!!! 🐅🐅🐅
Finally, such an opportunity came. Mita found a royal house right in front of the forest, exactly where the film was also shot. 😃😃
I added Bande Bharat to it. 😎😎 We have never ridden it before. So it became a perfect extended weekend plan. Then we packed our bags, and so we went!! 🏕️🏕️

We first took a train (Bande Bharat Express) from Howrah to reach Cuttack. The journey time is around 5 hours. From Cuttack, we took a taxi to the Gajlaxmi Palace, which was a 1.5-hour drive, and was arranged by the palace owners.

A bit far from the madding crowd of the city, the Gajlaxmi Palace is a beautiful Royal palace built on the slopes of Megha Hills in Dhenkanal by the Singhdeo Dynasty. The construction started in 1935 and was completed in 1943. Now it belongs to Kumar Saheb Jeetendra Prasad Singhdeo and his wife Nabnita Devi. It is the place where you can find nature all around. The building was grand and spacious with many historical artefacts and photographs which gave the place a real sense of history.
