Описание: The 72nd Nehru Trophy Boat Race has officially begun at Punnamada Lake in Alappuzha, Kerala, bringing one of the state's biggest traditional sporting spectacles to life.

A total of 71 boats are competing across multiple categories, including 22 iconic Chundan Vallams (snake boats). Each massive snake boat is powered by more than 100 synchronized rowers as they race through the scenic Kerala backwaters to the energetic rhythm of traditional Vanchipattu boat songs.

The prestigious event also marks the grand opening spectacle of the Champions Boat League.

The Nehru Trophy tradition dates back to 1952, when India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru visited Alappuzha and donated the silver trophy that became the centerpiece of this historic boat race.
