In this video, you will see me head up to Laoag City to meet with the DOST (Department of Science and Technology) and be a part of their National Science and Technology Week. It is always amazing seeing what this government agency is up to... one I have worked with on the Grassroots Innovation for Inclusive Development Program. Speaking of that program, I head for the first time to Mariano Marcos State University and take part in a GICE Expo on the campus.

Connecting to WIFI by exchanging used paper? Yup, some students turned a Peso Wifi into a device that takes paper instead.

A biomimetic pod that monitors sea turtle eggs to your cellphone? Yup, two young researchers have created a protective pod for sea turtle incubation.

Making chips out of the pulp of pili nuts? Yup, a lady an her team in Bicol through innovation transformed Pili Pulp into something tasty!

Did you know there are roughly 2.6 Billion kilograms of dried Banana leaves thrown as waste? One girl is transforming that waste into products with communities... even working on making a type of leather!

My gosh, I could just keep going and going... how about a boiled egg that lasts for six months? Or Uptyre Technology? Or creating art with excess motor parts? Or making paper with the leaves of sugarcane and abaca fiber? Filipinos are just so freaking innovative! That is what the Grassroots Innovation for Inclusive Development is all about... supporting local innovation with more science and technology.
