Renderman’s physical spec in the pxrSurface shader needs values from databases. In this first look at the physical properties, we examine how we can figure out these values by using the different wavelengths of the visible light spectrum in conjunction with an index of refraction database to define a material. In an upcoming tutorial, we will use this knowledge when defining material in the pxrSurface shader for Mari.
