This is an FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act) lawsuit in the Northern District of Alabam where the court looked to see if a second letter overshadowed/contradicted the validation notice the debt collector sent.
The argument was that the second letter violated the FDCPA as it discussed payment options and the threat of litigation.
