This is a commercial produced for the iconic Florida theme park Walt Disney World for the park's third gate expansion, Disney-MGM Studios (now named Disney's Hollywood Studios), which was set to open in 1990.
By 1989, The Walt Disney Company was riding high after recovering from a 1984 hostile takeover attempt. The renewed focus on film production quadrupled the company's profits due to its top two CEOs Michael Eisner ( formerly of Paramount Pictures) and Frank Wells (formerly of Warner Bros.)
Eisner and Wells was thinking of a third gate expansion for Disney World and thought of the idea of classic Hollywood as its' theme. Disney would partner in the new land venture with major Hollywood studio Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures that would bring back classic Hollywood glamour. The park includes a real life reproduction of Hollywood Boulevard with the Chinese Theater as it's central landmark.
