The Hobby King Walrus Sailplane - Setup and Some Important Issues

Описание: A Hobby King rep had a trailer full of models for sale at the June 25 (I said 21st in the video) AMA National Fun Fly. I bought a PNP Walrus sailplane for only $70! Getting it in the air was interesting, but well worth the trouble.

And there were some significant issues. No Instruction manual was included. One was found on the Hobby King company site, but it took some searching. What I found was virtually useless, so I turned to YouTube for advice.

The most significant issue was that I could not get the motor to shut off except with throttle cut when I bound it to my NX8 transmitter. At zero throttle the motor ran at about 20%. After trying every setting I could find I ordered a Spektrum Conscendo Telemetry ESC, a $35 expense. I also elected to buy a Spektrum AS637T receiver for the telemety and built in altimeter/variometer capabilities.

If you elect to buy any Hobby King model be aware that replacement parts come from overseas and may take some time to arrive.
