Monument Valley is one of the most breathtaking places in the world. It is a red-sand desert region on the Arizona-Utah border and is known for the towering sandstone buttes, the largest reaching 1,000 ft above the valley floor. The valley's vivid red color comes from iron oxide exposed in the weathered siltstone. The valley lies within the territory of the Navajo Nation Reservation.
Goulding's Lodge was constructed in 1928. It has one private runway: 34/16 is 3,800 long by ONLY 45 feet wide. Note the 700ft Mesa at the end of the runway which gives this airport the rule - NO GO AROUNDS! - We definately did not fly a standard pattern to this landing - January 31st, 2020 #Monument Valley #comeflywithguy #aviation #flying #NoGoArounds
