I was working on my exhaust pipes when I discovered this technique totally by accident. Then I tried it on my engine and brakes and found it works just as well on anything!
This is so darn easy but I’ve never heard of it before, so here’s what I do.

What you will need:
TAMIYA 87085 Weathering Master C Set (cost at time of video $10.00)
Tamiya Panel Line Accent Color, Black (cost at time of video $16.99)
Your choice of base coat (This video is based on Tamiya’s acrylic paints both flat and gloss)


1. First start out with a base coat (I use Tamiya’s acrylic paint) it didn’t mater if it was gloss or flat.
2. Let that dry for a day or so, so the paint has time to harden thoroughly.
3. Do any detail painting, or dry brushing at this time and let that dry thoroughly.
4. Now take the Tamiya’s Weathering Master C set and heavily apply the rust color to your part.
5. Now follow the way I applied the Tamiya’s panel liner to the Weathering Master C rust.
6. You will see the Weathering compound absorb the Panel liner and spread out in all directions.
7. Then let this sit for a second or two and watch how it does. If you want a little darker rust add just a touch more of the panel liner.

That’s all there is to it!!! I wish I found this out years ago, because it’s the most believable rust I’ve done to date.
