傳說法華鎮是上海最早出現的小鎮，更有“先有法華、後闢上海”的說法。其河岸邊曾經是人們廟會集市的繁榮景地，而如今這條街道摒棄了昔日的風光，悄悄地隱匿在一角，捲著濃濃的生活氣息，成了出行便利的居家樂地。
法華鎮路是上海西區的一條小路，不長，東起淮海西路，一拐一轉就到了番禺路口，路面稍稍寬了些，一直到了楊宅路，以為是盡頭了，沒料到一轉彎又可以往前走，旁邊是新建的小區，入住的人不多，安安靜靜的，一抬頭時，延安西路上嘈雜的車聲人聲撲面而來，這才是到了頭了。從東走到西，慢慢悠悠的，也用不了半小時。
法華鎮路的前世是個繁華小鎮，當年遍植牡丹，竟有小洛陽之稱。花開花落，到了上世紀七八十年代，已經凋敝得羞於見人了。經過十餘年的市政改建，拆去了大量的棚戶，如今方能心平氣和地與新華路比鄰而居，但法華鎮路骨子裡的那一股市井氣息卻從來都沒有消減過一絲一毫。
