On February 17th, something really cool will happen — an annular solar eclipse. That’s when the moon moves in front of the sun, but it won’t cover it fully. The moon will be farther away than usual, so it will look smaller in the sky. Instead of darkness, you’ll see a glowing ring of sunlight around the moon. It almost looks like the sun is wearing a bright halo.
And to finish the month with a bang, there will be a rare planetary parade. Around February 28th, about an hour after sunset, six planets will line up in the sky — Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Jupiter, Neptune, and Uranus. It’s like the solar system putting on a final show just for us. So keep looking up, because February’s sky is full of wonders.
