Now, a near final build of Windows 10X for single-screen PCs has leaked. A report from The Verge suggests that the leaked build contains support for Win32 apps in a developer-only mode which cannot be accessed by general users. So for now, the OS runs UWP apps ONLY from the Microsoft Store and PWAs through the Chromium-based Edge browser.

Windows 10X was first showed off back in October 2019 and was aimed at dual-screened devices like the Surface Neo. However, with the Neo delayed, the company repurposed the OS for single-screened devices.

The leak confirms Windows Central's report from last year which claimed Microsoft had removed local Win32 app support, but other than that, not much else has changed.

The Windows 10X user interface is still the same as it was when it was first announced, which is a good thing, actually. The animations are more fluent, and the OS feels much more polished overall.

Windows 10X is expected to launch officially on commercial-focused PCs sometime this spring. Rumors are making the rounds that the launch will be one without much fanfare, though. Well, we'll see if that's true!
