A demonstration on how to prepare the fruit 'barrettiere' also known as 'carosello' which are grown in Puglia in Southern Italy and not widely available. It can be used as an alternative to cucumber and doesn't give you digestive problems. As they are unusual, I wanted to show people how to eat them. Beautifully refreshing, you eat it before it ripens. The taste is like a cross between a honey dew melon (though not so sweet) and a cucumber (though not so strong taste). Wonderful in salads or just to munch on a hot day as a snack.
