My walk around the Chappel Viaduct in Essex was filmed using my Sony Z2 mobile phone. The Chappel Viaduct is a railway viaduct that crosses the River Colne and the in the Colne Valley in Essex and the second largest brick building in England after Battersea Power Station.

Work started on the viaduct back in July 1847 and took two years to complete under the watch of the civil engineer Peter Bruff. It is 1066 feet long, has 32 arches of each of which is a 30-foot span and at height of 75 feet. Today there is a delightful park and nature reserve below it and the Chappel Railway Museum is a few minutes’ walk away.

There is also a Type 28 WW2 pillbox, some anti-tank obstacles and a nature reserve, which all feature in this film. You will also see some trains cross the viaduct, which was fun to see. there is so much to discover at the chappel viaduct and chappel viaduct nature reserve and seeing the ww2 pillbox was a real surprise. why not take a visit yourself to the chappel viaduct in essex.
