In 2049, scientist Augustine Lofthouse remains alone at an Arctic observatory, after refusing evacuation during a global disaster. Earth's surface is contaminated with ionizing radiation, wiping out most of humanity. Augustine, terminally ill, chooses solitude over fleeing, knowing he won’t survive long without transfusions. As the world collapses, he spends his final days at the desolate facility, watching the deadly radiation slowly encroach upon his isolated refuge.
