ProUrbano: A new safety net for cities in Latin America and the Caribbean

Описание: Cities across Latin America and the Caribbean are facing more frequent and intense climate shocks. At COP30, ICLEI and KfW introduced two major milestones to help cities prepare, adapt and protect communities before disasters strike: the second phase of the Urban Infrastructure Insurance Facility (UIIF) and the launch of the Urban Adaptation Finance Facility (UAFF) under the ProUrbano initiative.

This trailer highlights voices from Curitiba, Recife, Quito and other partners who are shaping new, inclusive and cost-effective pathways for urban resilience. Through UIIF and UAFF, cities can access innovative insurance solutions, adaptation finance and technical support that strengthen resilience, safeguard public infrastructure and advance climate justice.

These initiatives bring local governments, risk modelers and the global insurance sector to the same table to co-design tools that make cities safer, more just and better prepared for today’s climate challenges.
