To check the oil on a Toyota Prius…
1. warm up the engine.
2. let it sit for at least 5 minutes.
3. Remove the oil dipstick and wipe it off.
4. Put the dipstick in and remove it and check the level. It should be near the top level.
5. Remove the oil filler cap and add oil.
6. Check the oil level and replace the dipstick.
7. Replace the oil filler cap.
