Pelvic floor exercises are essential for everyone, regardless of age or gender. They help strengthen the muscles that support the bladder, uterus, and rectum. So, what are the best pelvic floor exercises?
First up, we have Kegel exercises. To do a Kegel, tighten the muscles you would use to stop urinating. Hold for about five seconds, then relax. Repeat this ten times, three times a day.
Next, try bridges. Lie on your back with your knees bent. Lift your hips towards the ceiling while squeezing your pelvic floor muscles. Hold for a few seconds, then lower back down. Aim for ten to fifteen reps.
Another great exercise is the pelvic tilt. Stand or lie on your back, tighten your abdominal muscles, and gently tilt your pelvis upward. Hold for a few seconds before releasing. This helps engage your pelvic floor and core.
Lastly, consider squats. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, lower your hips as if sitting back in a chair, and squeeze your pelvic floor as you rise. This not only strengthens your pelvic floor but also your entire lower body.
Incorporating these exercises into your routine can lead to significant health benefits. Remember, consistency is key!
