Penticton Vees Surprise Nelson with a Gift

Описание: You know how some people are so ridiculously crazy in love with sports? Well my Dad is one of them! He’s a season’s ticket holder for the Penticton Vees Hockey Team. He’s the one at the end zone all decked out in hockey attire, sitting at the edge of his seat ready for lift off, cheering at the top of his lungs, ringing his cow bell, and yelling at the referees.

Even as a young girl my Dad took me to the hockey game with him. Back then, Penticton’s team was the Penticton Panthers. I was so young that I didn’t understand the point of hockey and thought it was boring, so my Sister and I would spend the whole time in the washroom playing games! I remember the mascot though, and he was my favorite!

Dad worked as security, and he brought us girls along with him to every game. Eventually I grew older and knew what hockey was and enjoyed it as well, but my Dad loved it from the very beginning. It became the thing we did together all the time and he was so excited for every single game.

We always have a great time at the Penticton Vees Games, and we have so many wonderful memories. One time we even sang the Canadian Anthem together on the ice!

With my Dad’s paralysis injury he had to give up his season’s tickets because he is unable to attend the games. This was extremely difficult for him because the Vees are part of his livelihood.

The Vees arranged a present for my Dad, a jersey signed by all the team members! Take a look at the video to see how happy this made him. He is so touched.

My Dad is still cheering on the Vees from a distance. With the gift of technology he has been able to watch the games live online through HockeyTV!

I’m looking forward to the day where we get to ride into South Okanagan Events Centre to watch a Vees game from the floor seats wheelchair section! And so is he!
