This week I had the honour and pleasure of sitting down with the legendary Iain McGilchrist (Neuroscientist, Psychiatrist, Philosopher, and Internationally Acclaimed Best Selling Author) to discuss the meta-crisis of our age.

We spent a long time exploring the brain’s two hemispheres and how each perceives reality in its own way. That theme of opposites carries through the conversation: he joined me on a snowy winter morning from his remote corner of Scotland, as I called in from a warm Australian night. Together we pressed into the question of how the finite can reveal the infinite, and how, in doing so, we might discover an antidote to the modern mind-virus consuming our age.

My favourite part of the interview, towards the last half, is where we dived into Orthodox Christianity, the East/West civilization split after the great schism of 1054 AD, the reformation, and how all this reflected the psychological split of the brain to a more left brain way of seeing the world.
