A Tribute to Todd Leduc

Описание: When I was in elementary school, I would get home from school and watch recorded episodes of Monster Jam on my DVR nearly every day. I'd see Dennis Anderson, Jim Koehler, Tom Meents, Charlie Pauken and all those other legends battle it out week to week, but my favorite driver was Todd LeDuc. I've watched his winning run at World Finals 15 more times than I can count, and I'd always count on him to put on a fantastic show, no matter the occasion.

Nowadays, Todd's mainly given up on being extraordinary for the past 3 years. Ever since he started driving Megalodon, he's been playing it safe, doing easy runs that'll make sure the fans to score him highly. He's been the laughing stock of the hardcore fanbase during this period of time for just that reason, constantly being ridiculed for becoming a shell of his former self.

But when he took the win in the Friday bracket of his final World Finals, everyone rallied around him. Todd's retirement had been all but confirmed until he officially stated it at the press conference earlier this week. If you told me when I was 7 years old that I would be crying about Todd's retirement, I'd believe you. If you told me the same thing just a few days ago, I'd call you a liar. But now, I'm actively sobbing over the thought of him taking his third world title tonight. Dennis and Tom's careers were cut short. They didn't get to have a storybook conclusion with a walk off championship, they were both cut short by an injury. Todd has the chance to end his career in the perfect way imaginable tonight, and by god, I hope he does.

I made this today as a token of appreciation for my childhood idol's career, and all the fantastic things he achieved during it. Thank you, Todd. For making me believe the impossible was possible, for shaping my earlier years. Even in your lesser moments, you've inspired countless, including me, to reach for the stars no matter what. Thanks, Todd. For everything.
