US President Donald Trump received a thunderous cheer following his speech at the Navy’s 250th birthday celebration.
On Sunday, Trump and First Lady Melania Trump attended the celebration at Norfolk Naval Base alongside hundreds of service members.
Following Trump’s tour of the base and a ship, the president delivered a speech praising the long and storied history of the US Navy.
President Trump expressed his unwavering support for the Navy and its service members, stating, “I will always stand for you.”
Trump also took the moment to blast the Democrats for shutting down the federal government last week, and despite the shutdown, there would be “across-the-board pay raises” for US service members.
