Soliton is a freely improvised solo work that interprets sound as a self-sustaining yet relational movement. It draws inspiration from the phenomena of solitons in physics: Stable waves that derive their shape from a delicate balance between propagation and collection, impulse and restraint.
This intrinsic dynamic remains permeable to the space that echoes, to the instrument that responds, to the material that resists.
Gestures and memories of makam and microtonality oscillate between solitude and being moved. They condense into vibration – into a line that stabilises itself out of the moment.
