For the longest time I've heard visitors share that they're not big fans of Bhutanese cuisine. Well you probably ate at one of those "tourist" restaurants that only serve watered down versions of good Bhutanese.
To be honest if you want to taste good local food, eat at a homestay. If that's not an option when you just get to Thimphu and you're looking for a nice place with the appropriate decor and setting, then you'll be surprised at some the restaurants in Thimphu.
I enjoyed a delicious traditional lunch at Terma Linca's Apa Restaurant and thought maybe I could share a few things to get you started about Bhutanese cuisine. This spread is only the beginning of the kind of food adventure that awaits for you in Bhutan.
Trust me my country has so much more to offer. You just need to open your palette to newer tastes in the himalayas. Enjoy this for now;)
