This is the first edition of Q & A with yours truly. Send me your questions and I'll try to answer one per week. This week's edition is about Call & Answer Licks.
This is an approach I use all the time. What I want you to learn from this is not note-for-note licks, but the concept of playing a lick and leaving either space, or strum a bit on the chord in question, and then play a follow up lick, which is a response to the first lick. You need to know where you are in the progression, so keep LISTENING to the band/backing track.
This approach is often called Call & Answer Licks or Call & Response Licks.
